KITCHENER -- Peninsula Shores' Rita Rudell highlighted a stellar day for Bluewater Athletic Association athletes at the CWOSSA track and field championships on Wednesday.
The Syracuse University prospect won gold in two events Wednesday including the senior girls 100-m hurdles in a time of 14.35 and in the senior girls high jump with a leap of 1.70 m.
Also claiming gold was Walkerton District's Mat West who won the senior men's high jump with a jump of 1.90 m.
West was also fifth in the senior men's javelin with a throw of 44.77 m.
Saugeen District's Jordan Collison won the open men's 2,000-m steeplechase in a time of 5:57.88. He was also second in the senior men's 1,500-m race in a time of 4:11.40.
Saugeen District's Evan Porter won the senior men's 400-m with a time of 51.08, while fellow Royal Thomas Godwin won the junior men's discus with a throw of 43.59 m.
Kincardine District's Cheyenne Hunter won the junior girls 1,500-m with a time of 4:53.38.
Other top-five finishes went to: West Hill's Ellen Diemert, second in the midget girls 400-m in 1:01.67 West Hill's Kelly Long, fifth in midget girls 1,500-m in 5:26.92; Saugeen District's Nicole Matthews-Rose, fourth in midget girls long jump, 4.44 m; Saugeen District's Kelly Gribbons, second in midget girls shot put, 9.09 m; West Hill's Tamara Officer, third in midget girls shot put, 8.67 m; Bruce Peninsula's Rachel McLay, fifth in midget girls shot put, 8.47 m; Saugeen District's Logan Chappell, second in junior men's 1,500-m in 4: 22.86; West Hill's Emily Charlton, third in junior girls discus, 25.40 m; Saugeen District's Jayce Dunlop, third in junior men's discus, 41.50 m; Walkerton District's Andrew Scott, fifth in junior men's discus, 40.18 m ; Grey Highlands' Andy Fawcett, second in senior men's 400-m, 51.50; West Hill's Chelsea Gillies, fourth in senior girls 1,500-m, 5: 06.23; Saugeen District's Caitlyn MacMillan, second in senior girls 100-m hurdles, 14.64; Saugeen District's Hillary Lubimiv, second in senior girls javelin, 34.80 m; and Grey Highlands, third in the senior men's 4x100-m relay, 45.70.
